Daisy dukes, bikinis on top

Signs of summer are all around.

1. I walk home through a  series of parks filled with women paying men in fitted camouflage t-shirts to yell lines from Full Metal Jacket at them as they do burpees on the grass.

2. I arrive at home to an ad for a local fitness club for people that make waaaaay more money than me. Continue reading

I’ve got my orange crush

My least popular posts are the ones in which I write about my latest unnecessary running purchase. You’ve been warned. Continue reading

I’m just gonna keep on counting

I can’t seem to keep the local shoe population under control. New ones are appearing faster than the old ones are driven to the farm where old shoes go to run free in big open fields.  Continue reading

Where webs of snow are drifting

Depending on where in the world you reside, the groundhog predicted an early spring or six more weeks of winter. Either way, a cool free hat will keep your noggin warm – but not too warm – through three chilly seasons a year. Continue reading

Monday, wear the sweater to school

Last Thursday was National Sweater Day. [Sorry if you missed it. Reminder: do not count on this blog to alert you to events beforehand, but I'll never fail to alert you once the event is over and everyone has gone home.]

On Feb 9th, put on your favourite sweater and turn the heat down a few degrees to help WWF take action against climate change, and work toward a sustainable future.

I participated during the day, mostly because I am cold-blooded and need to wear a sweater everyday, but could not find a suitable sweater for evening running. I’m not convinced there is such a thing*. Continue reading

Six foot four and full of muscles

Do you ever think, wow my running tights are so boring and unicoloured, there must be a more stylish yet anatomically correct way? Think no more. Continue reading

And they’re still running today

I wish I could claim to have found this one my own. I am, however, going to spend the next three evenings on google images looking for more retro running pics, because this is so amazing. Continue reading

Ever I saw your face

For those of us in northern climates, winter has arrived. The wind is blowing from the Arctic and runners are bundling up. On runs my cheeks freeze and I lose the ability to make certain sounds – which is fun in that it results in amusing conversations. I’m pretty tough. I’ve never run in a balaclava. I arouse enough suspicion in my ninja gear. Continue reading

Send a smile and show you care

Everyone else is doing it so I’m doing it too. Yes mom, cliff jumping does sound exciting.

Last time I posted my own personal wish list. I’m not ashamed to say I like gifts. This time I’m sharing my Awesome Gift Ideas for Runners Who Have Everything.* Runners like me. Coincidentally.

Mix Tape Volume 20

I like you so much I’ve made you 20 mixed tapes in the last year. On each one I signed the cover with a heart over the i.

On the wrong day of the wrong week

I bought a new training diary with the faint hope that writing down my runs might actually lead to, oh I don’t know, actual training.  The one I purchased can’t help but inspire the laziest of runner.   Continue reading

I do believe I’m feeling stronger every day

My parents are moving.  Their home is my childhood storage locker.  Somewhere in the teenage wasteland I left behind lies an exercise secret:  Continue reading

I’d buy you a green dress (but not a real green dress that’s cruel)

Running is supposed to be a cheap sport.  It can be.  A couple of pairs of running shoes a year, free roads and trails, and away you go.  Some even argue that real runners head out in 1980s trainers, a cheap white undershirt, high school gym shorts,  and cotton socks from a dollar store 12-pack.  I am not one of those runners.  Continue reading

See the light that’s right before my eyes

Last night, during Nuit Blanche, Nike led an amazing Art of Running exhibit.  30 runners – me and Husband included – took to the streets in the Nike Vapor Flash Running Jacket.  This is the most amazing running jacket I have ever worn.  To put that comment in perspective, I currently have seven running jackets in my closet.

Disclaimer: I’m not just saying that it’s the most amazing running jacket I have ever worn because Nike Continue reading

You may ask yourself, how do I work this?

After years of saying just do it, Nike finally did it. Continue reading
