5 weeks. 5 seasons of Lost. 5 short runs. If I can’t quickly find the willpower to drag myself off the sofa, into a pair of running shoes, and out the door I fear a spring PB is, well, as lost as the survivors from Oceanic Flight 815. Spring training kickoff, take three. And by three I mean four. Five.
Title Reference: DriveSHAFT* – You all everybody. From the album DriveSHAFT. 1999. *A fictional band from a TV show. Called Lost.
Kind of unrelated, I never watched Lost but I totally would if it had this theme:
That’s a lie. I just wanted to post the link.
And I hear you. Motivation in this weather is hard to find. Though we have sun here today!
It reminds me of an 80s action series theme song. The kind with a moustached private investigator or soldiers of fortune on the run for crimes they didn’t commit or a secret agent who can make a bomb out of a paperclip or a talking supercar or detectives wearing pastel suits. My TV addiction started early.
Right there with you. In fact:
Confession: I’ve spent HOURS watching old 80′s theme songs on youtube. They are….amazing.
I like how sitcoms always told you the entire story, and how the action ones, well, look like the one I posted. Which is the GENIUS.
I have spent many a Friday night watching youtube clips of 80s theme songs. My last binge was cartoon related.
We fear motivation may be hard to come by. So, other than RR clinic and practice runs, we have scheduled 2 other days, Tuesday and Friday mornings @ 6:30 AM…Will we all make it out? I bet turnout will be good, because, well, don’t show up and others will scorn you!
This starts tomorrow…with 4 hills nonetheless – April 19 is not far away!
That’s what I’m missing this winter – the Boston boost! I’m all about the peer pressure. Peers, why aren’t you pressuring me?
Where were you this morning? How’s that for pressure. May marathons are not that further away either
No marathon, not even one with Boston int he title, can get me out of bed for a 6.30 am run. May marathons are just around the corner and my “maybe” April marathon is even closer. Fear is my key motivator, so yeah, just got back from a spin class.
DO IT DO IT DO IT BECAUSE ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT
Does that help? (I know, its weak.)
It’s like I always say, the lamer the pressure the more effective.
Aghhhh, me too. Just waiting for RR clinic to start. Enjoy it for a few more weeks. Although today is a perfect day to go for a run in the city.
Which I did, yesterday AND today. Blastoff! I need to get myself in some semblance of shape before the next training cycle starts.
ahh lost. i watched all of season 5 this week. sooo good.
but you’re right… we’re supposed to be running, not couch potatoes.
My heart rate does jump a bit every time Ben does something awesomely evil. I think that counts as interval training.
I’d like to sit on the couch and watch some loose ends being tied up for this final season of Lost. I mean, c’mon people!
I’m optimistic that most loose ends will be knotted, but I’m still anxiously awaiting/dreading the inevitable crazy cliff-hanger with a movie plan for 2015 ending.
How about running 1 mile for everytime someone says destiny in the opening episode? Or maybe an 800 repeat for each new character we meet?
Ohh, I love it. Maybe I can base my mileage on the subtotal of The Numbers snuck into the episode in places like hotel room numbers and birthdates. Or a hill repeat everytime Sawyer uses a nickname. The possibilities are endless!
