I’m a fan girl. My mission was to meet Bart Yasso, a running hero of mine. Mission accomplished. He said to embrace every marathon as though it could be your last (we assume it won’t be, but we never know what curveball life may throw our way). He said to appreciate how lucky we are that we can run a marathon. It is easy to forget how lucky you are when you are doing the lactic acid shuffle at 36K, but I will try to remember. He said to celebrate crossing the most prestigious finish line in the world of marathoning. In this town, where everyone (runners and non-runners alike) has caught marathon mania the celebrating never ends. As I prepare to head to Hopkinton I will keep the words he inscribed in my copy of his book My Life on The Run in mind: never limit where your running can take you. Tomorrow running will take me across a new finish line.

i can’t wait to join the marathon club!
He seriously had me considering naked running. And running with a burro. For some reason it all seems to attainable, so reasonable, when described by Bart. Now I want to read the book again.
